DRAGONFLY 44

320 million light years away
is our Milky Way’s
reflection in a dark glass.

Same mass as our
galaxy but nearly invisible
mostly dark matter

(not that we know
what dark matter is)
and anything we do know

happened when Earth
was fern trees and giant
dragonflies.

They call it
a “Ghost Galaxy”
which was more than enough

reason to write the poem.
I like to imagine
that’s where everyone

we ever loved
has passed on to.
Living ghost lives

on ghost Earth,
but then again
it’s so distant

they may still be on their way.
